4 weeks ago myself and a friend participated in a hands on experience with The Post Mortem Live in Bristol and what an experience it was. 3 hours of anatomy and physiology along with a immersive story where we got to Dissect organ specimens, observe and learn the science of forensics & pathology. Ironically earlier today I watched a documentary movie on Netflix called the Sherpa, 9 years ago today I climbed to Everest base camp in Nepal, not medical related but just a massive coincidence and reflecting on what an experience it was! Unfortunately over 330 people have lost their lives trying to summit Mt Everest.

Sorry folks we haven’t posted in a long while but so much goes on I can’t keep up! This doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy behind the scenes we have been busy providing Basic life support to our continuous GP practices as well as emergency first aid at work training to charity’s in our local area and our returning bigger customers. Well today I had a good day despite the rain and wind on my travels to The Emergency Services Show 2023 in the fabulous NEC. This is a gathering of top suppliers, professionals, and experts from the emergency services industry demonstrating new equipment and services. This was a good opportunity for me as I never have been to one to before so it was great to meet some people and make new connections and see old and new faces :)

So last night I swapped my bed for a sleeping bag to raise vital funds and awareness for over 6000 veterans that are experiencing homeless in the UK right now. It rained all night and I woke up cold, tired and wet, 15 years I spent in the Army and that was probably my worse sleep ever however worth every penny. This week I spent on placement in the accident and emergency department as apart of my course. It was focused as you can imagine on acute injuries and illnesses, management and further care. It was beneficial to see what happens to patients after they are brought in by ambulance or generally walked in, I kept skills up including canulation and patient focused assessments, a massive thank you to all those staff in the emergency depart who made me feel welcome and apart of the team, I have learned more valuable knowledge to take back out with me on the road. #nhsheroes #studentparamediclife #learningonthejob

It's been a while since I posted and thats because it's been a busy few weeks, work and finishing off the last of the graduations for Bath university, family time (a well deserved week off) and training where 17 students from 11 years old completed their level 2 award I student first aid. Tomorrow sees an Emergency first aid at work course being held for the ISTD group. Last week I received my Queens platinum jubilee medal and have been studying ready for the 7th module of my paramedics course 'Trauma' looking forward to catching up with those on my cohort. Its nice not only training the school teachers but also the students in life saving first aid. A successful Level 2 RQF completed for primary school students taught by a highly skilled paramedic, the children loved it, not only did they learn these skills they got to ask lots of questions about paramedic life. This 3-hour Student First Aid course has been designed for key stage 3 and key stage 4 students (11+ years) and fulfils the requirements of the Department for Education in respect of first aid training. Not only would secondary schools meet the statutory requirements for health education, but students would also have the opportunity to attain a nationally regulated qualification, enhance their CV and develop new life skills. We also provided medical cover for our corporate client over in Cheltenham ensuring they had a safe event. Day 3: Another great day learning whilst on CCU. Today I have been with the rapid response team responding to emergencies within the hospital, also i have been in the cath lab watching primary PPCI interventions and devices including cardioversion. I participated in a simulation involving a Dr lead team for a status epileptic patient. Yesterday (day 2) involved working alongside the ACS nurses doing acute chest pain assessments and interpreting ecgs with cardio physiologist and referring them onto cardiology, really great team here at Wrexham Park hospital, I have learnt so much 😀 #studentparamediclife #studentparamediclife #cardiology

Ouch someone call me an ambulance! This afternoon our students spent dressing wounds and dealing with blood loss needless to say they did a good job. The most common cause of hypovolemic shock is blood loss when a major blood vessel bursts or when you're seriously injured. This is called hemorrhagic shock. Providing aid for charity has always been the forefront of my mind that's why I donate when I can to @helpingourhomeless and 10% of first aid courses to @wiltsairambu Today I donated to @mobilemedicsinternational to a good friend who's making a trip to Ukraine 🇺🇦 to help those in need. Gloves, masks, bandages, baby food, baby nappies and clothes were amongst what I could get together, I'm a one man band but always try to give, having served in active warzones myself I know how displaced these people feel.
